New Stems

Creating something new is quite a vulnerable process. Sometimes I think ... why reinvent the wheel? But most days, I want to do better. I want to offer you something that you feel is beautiful and complex. Something that makes you say wow, I need that in my life.

I've been wanting to design new stems for my pumpkins for the entire season and the muse did not whisper. She stayed quiet until now (or I was unable to hear her clearly). I have created a several prototypes and a few went directly to the trash and that's a little disheartening. When I spend days on ideas the don't work I don't feel like its a waist of time, it more like a learning process. Sometimes the lesson is to not take myself so seriously.... :)

When we each make it to the end of the process journey that we are on, we move the state of vulnerability to birth of a new idea.... it's only natural to want to protect your idea , watch it grow into fruition....

Nurture your idea

It's okay to protect your idea :)

Amity would love to rebel with you...

Amity is about 18 or 19 in pumpkin years.  She has her own style as do most teens.  It was a full moon when I created her. I infused her with all of the magic I could muster and then took a break..... I placed her on my work table and rested.  When I returned only a pile of vintage buttons remained.

I looked everywhere and called the neighbors, but no one had seen the small pumpkin girl.  I began to worry about raccoons and the giant grey squirrels that haunt our yard.    I pictured a scared Amity somewhere out there.

A few hours went by and there she was ..... back on the work table where I'd left her. But something was amiss.....I felt it in my bones. Amity was hiding something on her small arm. A mark... what was this odd smudge? I picked her up with much protest and turned her so that I might get  better look.

A tattoo. of an anchor.

At first I was in disbelief, but now I embrace it as her gentle rebellion.

Amity is ready for a new mummy or dad and new adventures.  She is listed on eBay and her auction ends tomorrow (Sunday)
